It's great to have you here as part of the BECOME.ME educator team. We want you to think of this as a space to share ideas, ask questions, make suggestions and build your professional learning network.
We believe that communication builds a strong community, and the first step is to tell us a little about yourself. I'll start.
My name is Leanne Hanson. I'm the Educator Community Lead here at BEcoME, a secondary English and Film and Media teacher, although for several years I've worked primarily with disengaged youth in the SEE Program (Skills for Education and Employment), improving literacy and numeracy while teaching not only English, but science, maths, ICT, humanities and career studies. I'm a big fan of projects that incorporate several subject areas and very passionate about student empowerment, with careful scaffolding slowly removed to encourage true learning independence. In the past few years I've also worked with several future-of-education organisations whose purpose is to rethink and redesign education to suit the rapid changes we're experiencing in the types of jobs, workplaces and lifestyles made possible by advances in technology.
Now, what about you? What motivates you? What do you want for the future? I can't wait to find out.
